Garlic Naan Bread

My husband a naan bread lover, challenged me to a naan bread bake off. Store bought vs homemade (he’s not one for cooking). I was up for the challenge. As a garlic lover, I came up with this recipe that tastes great and will be made every curry night.

5g or 1 sachet of dried yeast, ½ cup of warm whole milk, 1 tbs agave nectar, ½ cup plain yogurt, 1 tsp sugar, 1 large egg (lightly beaten), 3 tbs olive oil + a little extra for brushing, ½ tsp Fehmalee’s Kitchen Base Seasoning, 1-11/2 tsp organic garlic granules, 4 cups plain (all-purpose flour) + a little extra for dusting, 3 tbs warm water (if needed), 1 tsp Fehmalee’s Kitchen Flavour Enhancer

In a small bowl add the yeast, 3 tbs of warm milk, sugar and set aside to rest in a warm place for 10 minutes or until frothy. In a large separate bowl add the yogurt and lightly beat then add the remaining milk, flavour enhancer, garlic granules, agave nectar, egg, olive oil and base seasoning. Stir to combine then add the yeast, flour, mix to form a dough (if dough is still dry add the water). Knead for 10-15 minutes until dough is smooth. Cover with a damp tea towel and set aside for 4 hours until dough doubles in size. After 4 hours, remove tea towel and punch the dough down and knead for a further 2 minutes until smooth. Divide dough into 8 balls and roll out to 20 cm circles. Brush with a little oil and place 2 breads at a time on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 240c for 3 minutes until the breads has puffed and turned golden brown. Remove from oven then serve.
