Popping Herbed Popcorn

My herb popcorn is a tasty movie night treat and one that my family and I make every weekend.

Here’s my recipe.


1tbs olive oil, a small knob of butter, 100g popping corn kernels, ½ tsp sea salt, ¼ tsp fehmalee’s kitchen flavour enhancer, ¼ tsp sugar (optional)


Using a pestle and mortar grind salt, flavour enhancer and sugar to create a powder and set aside. In a large saucepan under medium high heat add the olive oil and butter. Once the butter has melted, add popping corn kernel and cover with a well fitting lid. Shake saucepan to coat kernels in oil. Cook for 4 minutes shaking pan ( to prevent popcorn from burning) until the popping stops. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 30 seconds. Sprinkle herby salt over popcorn and toss. Pour in serving bowl.
